Amazing Finds from across the "Pond"

Working for the National Hat Museum is a wonderful opportunity, and one that I cherish.  One of the most interesting aspects of working in the museum is the people you meet from all over the world who are looking for information about hats. From time to time, great relationships are formed.

For example, I had the chance to correspond with a delightful woman who is living what many of us would think of as the perfect life in France.

Imagine living in the French countryside and having the opportunity to go to “brocants” and “vide greniers” on a frequent basis.  In other words, the French version of antique markets and garage sales that are full of intriguing French antiques and collectibles available at your fingertips.

Philippa Duck is living an antique collector’s dream in France. After years of working as a fashion stylist for such magazines as French Vogue, Biba and many more, Philippa found that her real passion was vintage fashion and antiques. So, after 30 years in Paris, London and traveling for fashion shoots, she gave it up to live in the Southwest of France in a tiny village near Bordeaux.

Philippa sent the museum some pictures of antique hats she found at a market.  I was amazed at the quality. Over time she has sent me many pictures of hats and other treasures she has found.  I am consistently intrigued with the items she finds. It makes you want to move to France! Well, if you can’t move to France, Philippa could be your personal shopper. Philippa has an amazing eye for antique treasures. She collects a bit of everything, but finding antique hats and lace are some of her true talents.

Philippa now has a shop on Etsy:   search Ducksnestvintage or use the link below.  https://www.etsy.com/shop/Ducksnestvintage?ref=search_shop_redirect
